PROJECTS
Artistic research:
Beyond Schubert
Performing complete cycles of the Schubert Sonatas has been one of my most beloved solo endeavours. The project originally encompassed the elven completed sonatas performed over four recitals and has since 2014 been heard across the globe. In October 2024 I started my doctoral studies working with the remaining unfinished Schubert sonatas.
A separate page for Beyond Schubert will soon be available on this Web page.
Laura Netzel:
Completing the Concerto
During 2019 and 2020 I ventured upon the path of completing Laura Netzel's magnificent piano concerto.
The work was given it's world premiere in October 2020 with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra led by Ryan Bancroft and has since then been recorded with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
Ludvig Norman Concerto:
Two works become one
The follow up to my Netzel project was to create an ending to Ludvig Norman's youthful concerto in d-minor. This was achieved by using the sketch called Fjelluft (Mountain air) to construct a secondary theme in the unfinished 3rd movement as well as writing a development section and a CODA.
The work was premiered with the Swedish Radio Orchestra and Christian Reif in October 2023.
Experimental recital:
THE FINAL FRONTIER
Premiered at the prestigious series 'Piano Visions' at the Swedish Academy of the Arts in Stockholm 2016, The Final Frontier aims to be a complete rethinking of the concept of a piano recital by utilizing cutting edge technical solutions.
To boldly go where no man (or woman) has ever gone before...
Sven-David Sandström:
Five Pieces (WP)
Five Pieces for piano and orchestra was the last piano concerto written by legendary Swedish composer phenomenon Sven-David Sandström. The work was premiered with Sweden's National Orchestra GSO led by Mario Venzago on March 22, 2017.
The work was comissioned with generous support from the Anders Wall foundation.
Andrea Tarrodi:
Stellar Clouds (WP)
Andrea Tarrodi's and Peter Friis Johansson's long term collaboration is brought to the next level in her Stellar Clouds, piano concerto. A piano concerto with a space/sci-fi theme truly is every nerds (including Peter's) dream come through!
Premiered in April 2018 with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra led by Dalia Stasevska.
Lecture recital:
Being E.T.A. Hoffmann
The lecture recital Being E.T.A. Hoffmann (I huvudet på E.T.A. Hoffmann) was premiered at Folkoperan in Stockholm 2015 as a companion piece to their highly celebrated rendition of Les contes d'Hoffmann. The project tells the story of the ever elusive E.T.A. Hoffmann and his tremendous impact on the history of music.
Being E.T.A. Hoffmann is available as a 55 minutes or 2x35 minutes performance
